Constipation is a problem having those infrequent stools; such a person goes three stools per week or once in a week. For others, however, constipation means hard stools, difficulty passing stools or a sense of incomplete bowel movement. Constipation also can alternative with gastric & immune problems. This pattern commonly occurs as part of the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).  

The number of bowel movements generally decreases with age. Most adults have bowel movements between three and 14 times per week, and this would be considered normal. A healthy individual large intestine eliminate faecal matter on morning between 5-7 am and evening 4-6 pm.The most common pattern is one bowel movement a day, but this pattern is seen in less than half the people. Moreover, most people are irregular and do not have bowel movements every day or the same number of bowel movements each day. The severity of constipation varies from person to person. Many people only experience constipation for a short time, but for others, constipation can be a long term condition that can causes significant pain discomfort and affects quality of life.
